With local lockdowns looming over many of us, hitting the shops to pick up some of our beauty favourites is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Although the world of online has kept my regime flowing, I’ve struggled to incorporate new products in fear of getting it wrong.
Thankfully, Selfridges are now offering virtual beauty concierge appointments and I was thrilled when they invited me to take part.
Joining the Zoom call, I was greeted by a big smile from my consultant Megan. I could see she had already been to work after assessing my appointment brief – to find some new vegan beauty brands – with multiple products laid out waiting. Megan listened to my sensitive skin concerns, and noted down which products I was already using.
Kicking off the meeting, Megan introduced me to vegan makeup and skincare brand MILK. I’ve heard lots of good things about this brand but I had no idea they were stocked at Selfridges. She took me through some of her favourites and outlined the price for each product. Despite Selfridges often being marketed as a luxury store, it’s great to see them stocking brands with affordable prices.
Next up was Urban Decay. Although I had used this brand for years, I had no idea that some of their products were vegan – including the infamous All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. She also showed me their brand new palette, Stoned Vibes which is also vegan.
Following on with more vegan makeup brands, Megan talked me through some bestsellers from Bare Minerals including the Powder Foundation. Like Urban Decay, they offer a variety of vegan products; however, some of their products contain beeswax.
Moving on to vegan skincare, I was introduced to the brand Skin Sapiens – a new indie British skincare start-up. Their products were highly affordable (£8 for a cleanser!) and only offered the good stuff: 98% natural, 100% vegan, 100% eco-friendly.
I had plenty of time to ask questions, and Megan was more than happy to help. I think for many of us, one of the main reasons we shop instore is to get expert advice and to understand whether what we’re buying is suitable for us. Sifting through reviews before buying beauty products can be time-consuming, and we still have no idea whether we’re really just buying into marketing.
And so having a beauty concierge appointment is such a great idea – not only for the expertise and opportunity to seek out other suitable products, but to stop you wasting your money too! I learnt a lot in a short space of time and discovered a variety of new products.
If you’d like to try a Selfridges Beauty Concierge appointment you can easily book your appointment here. They are also offering styling and gifting appointments.

I recently wrote a blog post on why I’ve started to opt for vegan beauty products after noticing a significant improvement in my skin. On my quest for natural and cleaner ingredients, I’ve also started to learn more of the benefits of choosing paraben-free. Despite the ability to increase a product’s shelf life, parabens can […]
